Livestrong Kicks

Yellow shoes have never been an easy one to pull off but I'd say most of these are damn near impossible. One pair near the end look a little like the yellow/grey Koston 2's but not quite as rad...

Big Pimpin'

This frame from SE and Us Versus Them is real pretty - rear bridge and cutout look awesome and the fish-scale style detail really works.

Deaf Pigeon ReUp

Blending form and function is key to creating something good. Perki has just launched the new DeafPigeon site today and it's looking damn good. Also cam across flux by Sam Moon, who is a preston rider currently living in Leeds. Missed this one completely! Good work man.

Metal Monday

Some nostalgia involved with this band, as they were probably the first band i saw live upon arriving in Leeds, and they certainly set the bar high. The new offering from the German hardcore four piece certainly doesn't disappoint. The new record oozes with the usual thrashing drum lines, vehemently powerful vocals and screeching riffs, alongside a more down-tempo, stripped down sound in tracks like 'Mt Ashtray'. Definitely worth a listen, i can see it being a regular on my riding playlist, as was Glasses, the self titled record.

I have only managed to get hold of the MP3 version at the moment, but i'll be sure to pick it up on vinyl, as soon as this skint pre christmas interim period is over.

Heres a personal favourite from Glasses.

You can check out Glasses on MySpace here.

Yon can also visit there Facebook page here, which contains a link to the free download of The Ills of Life.

The merch store can be found here.

Linotype: Trailer

"Linotype: The Film" Official Trailer from Linotype: The Film on Vimeo.

I'd say that thanks to the simplicity of producing and printing documents at home now, the public understanding of print process is probably at its worst. Beyond about the current use of process colours lies Linotype, an advancement of typesetting that is explained in this film. The machinery itself is a thing of beauty, never mind the outcome. I cant wait for the release of this...

Cadence Lorem Ipsum

There's no doubting that the latest collection from Cadence is a banger - more refined application and well developed products. I'd like to know the reasoning behind the title of the collection though....

Ellis Build

Tom showed me these pics of this Ellis and it has certainly stoked the 'buy a road bike' fire. Simple yet individual, the details and finish really make this something special.

There's not a chance in hell that I'd be able to afford anything like this but a guy can always dream!

Brown Bread Films

BROWN BREAD FILMS SHOWREEL from BROWN BREAD FILMS on Vimeo.

This is completely off subject but the Brown Bread showreel is well worth a watch. For those who don't know, Leeds skaters (and part time riders) Tom Harrison and Rory set up this company after graduating and have already put out some banging work. The new site designed by Workshop is up and running here.

Ginnel Whippet Roller Racing

A few Leeds heads have probably heard about this on the grapevine but I thought I'd better announce that the first Ginnel Whippet Roller Racing night will be going down next friday (3rd Dec) at Hukaz in Hyde Park.

It's kind of a test night, to see how we're gonna work this but should be a laugh whatever happens! Thanks to the guys at 14 for hooking us up with some tiny sprockets - I can't wait to get spinning!

Downtown from Behind

Read about this over at It'sNiceThat. I thought rather than try to explain, I'd let the projects creators speak for themselves:
downtownfrombehind is a photographic project capturing subjects riding their bike from behind on every street, some 200+ streets, avenues and lanes below 14th in New York City.
The concept is an environmental portrait for each street and its subject.  The goal to highlight a unique set of individuals who have had an impact, previously or currently on downtown New York City, making downtown what it is today.
Subjects photographed to date have included designers, musicians, artists, restaurateurs, entrepreneurs, hoteliers, academics and celebrity activists.
As well as highlighting some of downtown’s most dynamic individuals in their respective fields, downtownfrombehind is passionate about sustainability and a greener environment. downtownfrombehind supports Little Ambitious; a philanthropic initiative supporting Young Designers & Inventors who are focused on green innovation that will have a positive impact on our environment. Design Will Save The World.

Icelandic Roads

I read this post on FGSWitzerland at lunch and it reminded me of some photos I'd looked at whilst sourcing some images for a mock-up at work. I'd love to ride these roads in Iceland, especially the long one that drops into the green valley. Photographs all from YstenesFlickr

Glass Tiger Surfboards

I don't surf but I love the sea and good innovative craftsmanship so posting these boards from GlassTiger was a no brainer. Hand shaped in Cornwall by Mark Roberts - if I was after a custom build, I'd be straight onto this guy!

Death Spray Custom

The Guys at DSC have worked on some pretty amazing projects and the upcoming TokyoFG project looks real exciting. This rider awareness ribbon looks pretty rad - I wonder if these will be released? I'll wear one with pride.

In other DSC news, looks like ChopperCrizy straight jacked the 1 logo!

The Ace of Spades

Chrome have just released the Citizen Motorhead print bag. Good for when you cover up that patch on the back of your leather vest!

Haters gonna hate

Cav has gotta be one of the most hated figures in modern cycling and this video is either going to change your mind or make you hate him more. Released as part of Nike's Destroy to Create series, a short film with Mark explaining his logic behind his aggression. I like Cavendish, I think most of the time just to piss Treanor off when we were watching the tour - see what you think...

Fixed 6

The Good Old Days

Nearly every time I've visited Fixed&What recently, I've come accross an interesting post focussing on design in or around cycling. Today I found these designs promoting pirelli bike tyres (originally from Display) love the simplicity and the use of print process. Photoshop really fucked things up for us.
